DISINFECTION.
The total number of disinfections of rooms during the year by the
Council's disinfecting staff was 6,289. Of this number 3,142 rooms were
disinfected after the occurrence of the ordinary notifiable infectious
diseases, as against 3,136 rooms in 1928. 2,337 periodical sprayings of
rooms occupied by Phthisical patients were also carried out during the
year.
810 verminous rooms were sulphured and otherwise cleansed by
the Council's staff during the year, as against 639 in 1928.
Among the total number of disinfections (6,289) it was found
necessary to strip 119 rooms. Of these 81 were in relation to the
notifiable diseases, 36 after the termination of cases of Phthisis, and
2 were verminous.
