HOUSING OF THE WORKING CLASSES ACTS, 1890-1909.
On August 8th, 1919, I represented three areas in the Borough as
being unfit for human habitation for reasons duly set forth in the
representations.
(1) An area in East Street in extent approximately 17½ acres, the
number of houses affected being 577, together with a number of
stables and other buildings; the estimated population of the area
being 3,462. The area is bounded on the north by York Street, on
the south by Dato Street, on the east by Blendon Row and Brandon
Street, and on the west by Walworth Road.
(2) An area in Rockingham Street, in extent approximately 6½
acres, the number of houses affected being 250, together with a
number of warehouses, stables, yards and factories; the estimated
population of the area being 1,250. The area is bounded on the
north by Avonmouth Streot, on the south by Rockingham Street, on
the west by the backs of the houses in Newington Causeway, and
on the east by Rockingham Street.
(3) An area in Drapor Street, in extent approximately one acre,
the number of houses affected being 40, and the estimated population
400. The area is bounded on the north by Draper Street, on the
south by the backs of the houses in Hampton Street, on the west by
the houses in Newington Butts, and on the east by the houses in
Draper Street.
