At the end of 1901 a Special Inspection was made of every Bakehouse in the Borough, and the
conditions found to exist are set out in the following table: —

Are the walls cemented up to a
height of 4 ft. 6 in. from the floor,
or brick, or plastered, or wood ?
Are the troughs on Casters ?
Is there a closet in direct communication

Is the cistern supplying the water
to the Bakehouse separate from any
cistern supplying water closets ?
Is there any drain opening within
the Bakehouse ?
Is the Bakehouse interior painted
or limewashed ?
Is there any sleeping place on a
level with the Bakehouse not constructed
according to the Act?
Means of ventilation : permanent
or otherwise.
Can the work in the Bakehouse in
the daytime be carried on without
the aid of artificial light ?
Is the bread made by hand ?
Are there any animals, such as
dogs or fowls allowed in the Bakehouse
? If so state what they are.
Any evidence of beetles or cockroaches.
