REPORT OF THE SURVEYOR.
Surveyor's Department.
Gentlemen,
I beg to submit a summary of works, &c., carried out
under the superintendence of the above Department during the year
ending the 25th March, 1890.
MAINTENANCE OF ROADS.
The following quantities of materials were supplied by the Contractors and Guardians at the cost stated, and used on the Macadam and ballast roads in the parish during the year:—

During the year 588 cubic yards of old pebbles, York, etc., were
broken up, costing £58 9s. 5d., and loaded and carted for repairing the
roads at a further cost of about £73 10s. lOd.
One foreman and seven laborers on an average were employed
in the yard, and on the general repairs of the unpaved roads and
over trenches opened by the Gas and Water Companies ; their wages
