CARRIAGEWAY PAYING.
The following works at the cost stated have been executed by
the contractor during the past year :—
Great Eastern Street.— A portion of the carriageway taken
up and repaved on concrete, and grouted in connection
with the construction of new lines by the North Metropolitan
Tramway Company *£453 12s. 7d.
Marsom Street.—Old tram stones carted from Stone Yards
and fixed to form channels; the remainder of carriageway
paved with old redressed granite pitchings, carted
from Yard, on concrete, and grouted £49 13s. 8d.
Nile Street. — A portion (recently widened and rebuilt)
paved with new 3x7 inch granite pitchings, on concrete,
and grouted †£346 15s. 9d.
Great Cambridge Street.— Channels paved with new 4x6
inch granite pitchings, on ballast, and grouted,
£46 15s. Od.
Curtain Road, by Holywell Lane.—A portion of carriageway
taken up and repaved with redressed granite pitchings,
and a portion repaved with new 4x7 inch pitchings,
all on concrete, and grouted £74 10s. 2d.
Rempstone Mews.— Carriageway paved with old redressed
granite pitchings, carted from Stone Yard, on concrete,
and grouted £67 9s. 3d.
Shoreditch High Street.—A portion of carriageway taken up,
lowered and repaved with redressed and undressed
granite pitchings, in connection with the re-const ruction
of lines by the North Metropolitan Tramway Company.
A portion repaved with new 3 X 7 inch and 4x7 inch
pitchings, all on concrete and grouted *£713 17s. 6d.
