Towards the cost of this Improvement, the Metropolitan Board
contributed £320.
HACKNEY ROAD IMPROVEMENT.
The rebuilding of certain houses, No. 19, 23, Hackney Road,
offered an opportunity to widen the footway of Hackney Road on
the West side. The sum of £200 was paid for the freeholders
interest, and £10 10s. vendor's Surveyor's costs, and £7 7s.
Vestry Surveyor's costs. Towards the cost of this improvement,
the Metropolitan Board contributed £100.
APPOLD STREET IMPROVEMENT.
An elaborate statement of accounts relating to the above
improvement, which was commenced in 1887, and carried out at
the joint expense of the Vestry and the Metropolitan Board, was
received in January last and examined by the Finance Committee.
The summary of this statement is that the total nett cost of the
improvement was £85,972 19s. 6d., the share payable by the
Vestry being one moiety, or £42,986 9s. 9d. The Vestry contributed
£65,000 which was advanced by loan by the Metropolitan
