REPORT
of the
MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH,
for the
YEAR ENDING 25TH MARCH, 1886.
Gentlemen,
4,922 births—2,595 males and 2,327 females; and 2,856
deaths were registered in twelve months ending 25th March,
1886. The rate of mortality was 22.40 per 1,000 living, being
1.81 per 1,000 above the average of the last five years. The
largest number of deaths was registered in Haggerstone District,
in which is situated Shoreditch Infirmary.
The following statistics show the rate of mortality in the different Registration Districts of the Parish:—

790 deaths occurred in the public institutions of the parish, viz:—
350 in Shoreditch Infirmary, 303 in Holborn Infirmary (situate in
Hoxton New Town), 66 in the North Eastern Hospital, and 71 in
Hoxton House.
