Of those sums collected by the Vestry as for Poor Rates, large
amounts are paid to other authorities for purposos over which the
Vestry has no control. Thus, in addition to the £50,600 paid to
the Guardians, out of which the County Rate and Metropolitan
Asylam's Board's charges are paid, there is a sum of £12,475 15s. 5d.
paid to the Commissioners of Metropolitan Police, and £547 14s.
for Registration, &c., expenses.
From the Hewers Rate is paid the Metropolitan Board's
Consolidated Rate of £14,179 3s. 4d. From the General Rate
is paid the School Board Rate of £19,525 13s. 2d., and the Toll
Bridgos Precept of £1,877 13s. 7d. All these charges are based
upon tho rateable value of the property according to the valuation
list, and no reduction is made for empty houses, or for the
allowance to owners.
