MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH

YEAR ENDING 25th, 1883.
To the Vestry of St. Leonard, Shoreditch.
Gentlemen,
5,131 births—2,637 males and 2,494 females,—and
2,976 deaths were registered in the twelve months ending 25th
March, 1883. Deducting the deaths (246) which occurred in
Holborn Infirmary, the mortality was 21.5 per 1,000 living,
being slightly below the average of the last five years which was 21.58 per 1,000.
The largest number of deaths were registered in Haggerstone District, in which is situate Shoreditch Infirmary.
