On four occasions during the dense fog in the months of
November and December, lamps were lighted in the day-time in
thorough fares where traffic is the greatest, amounting to an average
of 2.82 hours per lamp on the whole number.
In order to decrease the many nuisances caused by persons not
knowing where to find Urinals, green glass tops have been fixed in
place of clear glass in tin; lamps situated nearest, and a tablet with
hand pointing indicating the direction where Urinals may be
found, and red glass tops to lamps situated nearest to Post Offices
and Pillar Boxes.
It is considered that when this plan becomes known it will be
of great service to the public generally.
I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
C. H. DOUGHTY,
Inspector.
