REPORT OF THE SURVEYOR.
SURVEYORS' DEPARTMENT.
Gentlemen,
I beg to submit a summary of works, &c., carried out under
the superintendence of the above Department during the year
ending the 25th March, 1883.
MAINTENANCE OF ROADS.
The following quantities of material have been supplied by the
Guardians and Contractors at the cost stated, and used on the
Mac Adam and ballast roads in the Parish during the year—

During the same period 434 cubic yards of old pebbles,
York, &c., were broken up, costing £48 4s. 0d., and loaded and
carted on the roads at a further cost of about £54 5s. 0d.
One foreman and five labourers on average were employed in
the general repairs of the unpaved roads and over trenches opened
by the Gras and Water Companies, their wages for the year amounted
to £334 14s. l0d. The Companies contributed £88 18s. 0d. for
labour, and £118 10s. 6d. for material required in the said repairs.
