REPORT OF THE MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH
FOR THE
YEAR ENDING 25th MARCH, 1879.
To the Vestry of St. Leonard, Shoreditch.
Gentlemen,
5068 births—2594 males and 2474 females—and
3232 deaths were registered in the twelve months ending 25th
March, 1879. The mortality was 23.84 per 1000 living; above the
average of the last five years, which was 22.4 per 1000.
The largest number of deaths was registered in Haggerstone West District, in which is situated Shoreditch Infirmary.
