SURVEYOR'S REPORT.
Surveyor's Department.
Gentlemen,
Herewith I append a summary of the work carried out under
the superintendence of this department for the year ending 25th March,
1871:—
Watering the Roads, Streets, &c.
The whole of the Parish was thoroughly and efficiently watered
from the 1st March to the 31st of October, 1870, by Mr. Henry Crane,
of George Street, London Fields, (under a contract,) for the sum of
£950. During the whole season, as above, there were only seven complaints
made of insufficient watering, and those were promptly attended to.
There are seventeen hydrants in the Parish belonging to the Vestry,
twelve supplied by the New River Company, and five by the East
London Water Company, and the cost of keeping them in repair was
£26 0s. 7d. for the season.
11,427,000 gallons of water was spread on the roads, streets, &c.
8,326,000 supplied by the New River Company, at a cost of £416 10s. 6d.
and 3,101,000 by the East London Water Company, at a cost of
£126 15s. 9d., making total cost of water £543 6s. 3d.
Total amount paid for watering was £1519 6s. 10d.
