There were sixteen Hydrants in the Parish for the purpose of
watering; eleven supplied by the New River Company, and five by the
East London Water Company, situated as follows :
North side of Wenlock Street, opposite Church Street
New North Road, opposite the Pavement Chapel
East Road (West side) opposite Singleton Street
Grange Street, near the North end of Saint John's Road
Old Street Road (West side) between Tabernacle Square
and Wood Street
At the back of the Urinal, near the North end of Hyde
Place
On the North side of Worship Street, near the South-east
corner of Worship Square
Great Cambridge Street (East side) between Gloucester
Street, West, and Kent Street
Opposite Shoreditch Church
Near the West end of Broke Road, Queen's Road
Curtain Road, opposite St. James's Church
High Street, Hoxton (East side) opposite Upper John
Street
The East-end of Margaret Street, near the Pump
Dunston Road, Kingsland Road, near the Urinal
Kingsland Road (East side) near Pearson Street
Hackney Road (South-east side) near Charles Street
Also a new Hydrant has been fixed near the railings of St. John's
Church, Pitfield Street, supplied by the New River Company, making
a total of seventeen.
