Diphtheria.— Out of 481 cases notified 404 were removed to hospital for
isolation and treatment, of which 312 entered the hospitals of the Metropolitan
Asylums Board. Altogether 84 per cent. of the known cases were isolated in
public institutions, leaving only 16 per cent. to be attended to at home.
Enteric Fever.— Out of a total of 92 cases, 77, or 83.7 per cent., were
removed to hospital. Of these cases, 40 entered the institutions of the Metropolitan
Asylums Board.
