The Assessment Committee was appointed on April 19th, 1892,
pursuant to the Valuation (Metropolis) Act of 1869, and consisted of
Messrs. William Adams, Frederick Thomas Bailey, Joseph Harrison
Brown (since deceased), Arthur Chamberlain, John Thomas Johnson,
Samuel Lambert, Charles Lavy, William Thomas Niblett, Arthur
Rumbelow, Edwin Spring (since deceased), Joshua Thompson and
John Young.
The nomination of Vestrymen and Auditors took place on Monday,
May 23rd, 1892. At the polls which were held on the following day
in Wards 4 and 8 about 500 persons recorded their votes, the
constituences being estimated to contain 6,000 persons qualified to vote.
There were 42 vacancies, and these were filled up by the re-election
of 26 of the members who retired by effluxion of time and by the
election of 16 entirely new to office.
On May 27th, 1892, Messrs. Alfred Basil Embery, William
Ebenezer Grigsby, Matthew Henry Hale, William Nodes, and Arthur
Collinson Smith were elected Auditors of the General and other
Vestry Rates.
