July and December were the two exceptional months of the year.
In July rain fell on 23 days. During this month, a thunder storm of
exceptional severity occurred (yielding a total of 2 inches of rain in a
very short time), and which, so far as its effects are concerned, is not
likely to be forgotten.
December was one of the coldest months on record, a minimum
of 16º Fahrenheit having been reached. Continuous dense fogs
occurred on the coldest days.
