appendix. It will be seen from the report that the Committee was of
opinion that upon a satisfactory undertaking being entered into by
the House to House Electric Supply Company, Limited, the formal
consent of the Vestry should be given to that Company's Provisional
Order, and that the Vestry should refuse its consent to the Brush
Company's Order. The report was considered at a special meeting
of the Vestry convened for the purpose on the 14th March 1890
when the recommendations contained therein were adopted.
The Order of the Brush Electrical Engineering Company was not
proceeded with, and the Board of Trade subsequently granted the Order
promoted by the House to House Company, but in an amended form,
some of the Vestry's requirements having to be embodied in a separate
agreement between the Company and the Vestry.
In connection with the question of electric lighting it should
be mentioned that an application was received from Mr. W. Beale, of
370 and 372, Holloway Road, for permission to lay electric lines under
the footway in the Holloway Road from his premises to the "Nag's
Head" P.H., with a view to supplying the electric light to certain
premises in the neighbourhood. The application was granted by the
Vestry subject to certain conditions, and an agreement has been
entered into accordingly. It must be distinctly understood that the
Vestry in granting the permission acted solely as a Highway Authority,
and not as a Local Authority under the Electric Lighting Acts.
