REPORT OF GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE
as to the
RATING OF TENEMENT OCCUPIERS.
TO THE VESTRY OF ST. MARY, ISLINGTON.
Your General Purposes Committee begs to report that it has had
under consideration your reference of December 6th, 1889, with regard
to the insertion in the occupiers' column of the Rate Books of the
names of the occupiers of separate rooms in "Let Out" houses, and
has obtained a Report thereon from the Vestry Clerk, a copy of which
is annexed. Your Committee deems it only necessary to add that it
endorses the views therein set forth, and that, while it recommends
that no alteration be made in the practice of the Vestry as regards
such occupiers, it is of opinion that it is very desirable that the
Vestry, as Overseers, should enforce the penalties provided by the
Registration Acts against such owners as make default in the
returns required of them pursuant to the Representation of the People
Act, 1884. All which is submitted.
(Signed) ARTHUR RUMBELOW,
Chairman..
March 25th, 1890.
