Medical Officer of Health,
Population.—From the constant and increasing changes which
are taking place in the Clerkenwell district, as in most districts of
Central London, it is impossible to determine with accuracy the
real population of the district.
For 1899.
Since 1896 this total figure has been used for the purposes of vital
statistics.
The Registrar-General states it as follows:—

| Amwell, Clerkenwell | 34,356 |
| Goswell Road | 16,069 |
| Total | 66,202 |
