The deaths occurring in the Parish from the seven principal
zymotic diseases, viz., smallpox, measles, scarlet fever, diphtheria,
whooping cough, typhoid fever and diarrhoea were 217, a number
considerably higher than the average for the past 10 years, which
is 176. To these must be added 67 deaths which occurred in the
various hospitals outside the district, making a total of 284, giving
