Decease of Member.—The Vestry regret to record
the death during the year of Dr. W. J. Hunter on
the 11th July. A vote of sympathy was passed
with the widow and family in their bereavement.
Votes of Condolence.—The death of the Marquis
Northampton, which took place on the 11th September,
has removed one who had been a munificent
benefactor to the Parish in various ways, notably by
the gift of Wilmington and Northampton Squares
as open spaces; and of the site of Northampton
Institute in St. John Street Road, from which the
late Marquis had cleared a large number of houses,
thus relinquishing in perpetuity a very considerable
annual income. A vote of condolence was passed
by the Yestry, expressing their great regret at his
decease, and their deep sympathy with Earl
Compton, M.P., and the other members of the
family in the loss they have sustained.
The Yestry received with deep regret the
intelligence of the decease of H.R.H. the Duchess
of Teck, which took place on the 27th October, and
offered their sincere condolence and respectful
sympathy to Her Majesty the Queen, His Serene
Highness the Duke of Teck, and the other members
of the Royal family.
The Vestry also expressed their sympathy with
the Hon. Mrs. Ponsonby, upon the death of her
husband, the Hon. Ashley G. Ponsonby, who had
been for six years one of the members of the
London County Council for Central Einsbury.
Upon the death of Mr. Oliver Millward, the only
brother of A. Millward, Esq., J.P., the Yestry
tendered to its Chairman, and to the widow and
family, its sincere condolence with them in their
bereavement.
