439 preliminary notices served.
210 statutory notices served.
895 houses visited on complaint, including S03 houses house to
house.
1459 revisits.
Mortuary arid Shelter.—During the year 226 bodies
wcro brought to the mortuary; 56 of these were Holborn
Guardian cases, and 170 were brought from the dwellings of
parishioners, including 18 cases of infectious disease, 99 Were
inquest cases, upon which 74 post-mortems were made.
Our Shelter, which is used in common by the Holborn Board
of Works and ourselves, was occupied by families from the
Holborn district 30 times, and by families from our own district
only 18 times. There is, no doubt, some objection by the
people in the immediate neighbourhood to the proximity of the
shelter to the mortuary, which interferes to some extent with
its usefulness.
In conclusion, I have to thank you, Gentlemen, for the
kindness and courtesy extended to me at all times.
I have the honour to remain,
Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant.
JOHN GLAISTER, M.D., D.P.H.
