Parish of St. Sepulchre, and the Yestry ascertained
that a similar letter had been sent by the County
Council to the Holborn District Board of Works.
A joint meeting of the two Works Committees
therefore took place. Mr. Millward and Mr.
Fincharn, the Churchwardens of St. John's, were
also present. The Churchwardens of St. John's
produced an Order of the Charity Commissioners,
dated 13th May, 1881, vesting the Burial Ground,
which is Charity property, in Trustees, consisting
of the Rector and Churchwardens of St. John's for
the time being, and Messrs. Millward, Franklin,
Gedge and Javens, the three latter of whom are
now deceased. Mr. Millward stated that up to the
present time the ground had been maintained and
the caretaker paid by the Rev. W. Dawson mainly
from his private purse, small grants having been
made from time to time by the Yestry and the
District Board, and he estimated the total cost of
maintenance at about .£80 per annum.
The Joint Committee were of opinion that the
ground might be continued to be maintained by
the two parishes concerned without the assistance
of the County Council, and recommended that the
Yestry and the District Board respectively contribute
an annual sum of not exceeding £40 to the
expenses of maintaining the ground; that the
surviving trustees and two members from each
authority form the Committee of Management,
such grant to take effect from the 1st January,
1893. The Yestry and the District Board respectively
adopted the recommendation, and Mr.
Robson and Mr. Walton were appointed as the
Yestry's representatives on the Committee.
