Parish of the Charterhouse.—Under the Public
Health (London) Act, 1891, the Guardians of the
Poor of the Holborn Union became the Sanitary
Authority to carry out the provisions of the Act in
the Parish of the Charterhouse. It being obviously
undesirable to appoint a separate staff for so small
an area, the Guardians, with the consent of the
Vestry, appointed the Vestry's Sanitary Inspector
for the contiguous portion of this Parish, to be the
Sanitary Inspector for the Charterhouse, and they
came to an arrangement with the Vestry for the
latter to remove the house refuse for £55 per annum,

Hall Place for £8 per annum. They have further
agreed to pay 21s. per case for families using No.

their rooms, 6s. per time for the use of the Disinfecting
Oven, and 5s. for each person removed to
the Mortuary.

have received requests from the Vestry of St. Luke
and the Holborn District Board of Works asking to
be allowed to make use of the premises, No. 47,
Northampton Road, which have been appropriated
by the Vestry to the purposes of section 60(4) of
the Public Health (London) Act, 1891, as a shelter
for persons requiring accommodation while their
homes are being disinfected, and such use has been
granted to those authorities on payment of a sum of
£25 per annum each.
Clerkenwell Road.—The last report stated that

Charterhouse and Clerkenwell to the County
