a Conference between the Local Government and
Taxation Committee of the Council, and representatives
of the various Assessment Committees and
Overseers, with the view to promoting uniformity
in the valuation of the County of London. The
Vestry appointed Mr. J. F.Kelly as their representative
to such Conference, which met on the 13th
March, but has not yet concluded its sittings.
Paving.—A List of the paving works carried out
by the Vestry during the year will be found in the
report of the Surveyor.
Sewer works.—A list of the sewer works carried
out by the Vestry during the year will also be found
in the report of the Surveyor.
Street Nomenclature.—During the year the following
Orders made by the London County Council
for re-naming and re-numbering streets have been
received by the Vestry, and notices to the persons
concerned have been duly given.
To re-number the houses in Warren Street and
to abolish the names Warren Villas and
Warren Cottages.
To re-number the houses in Rodney Street.
To re-number the houses in Penton Street.
Newcastle Street has been re-named Scotswood
Street, carrying out an Order of the County
Council in a previous year.
Lighting.—The number of public lamps in the
Parish at the close of the year was 870. The gas
is supplied by the Gas Light & Coke Company, who
also light, clean, and glaze the lamps. The amount
paid to the Company was £2,829 18s. 10d. Further
particulars as to lighting will be found in the Surveyor's
report.
