HUGH ROSS,
Inspector, 4 and 5 Wards.
In the disinfection of the houses, the streets, the gullies,
&c., of the Parish, 1,120 gallons of carbolic acid, and 85 cwt.
of carbolic powder, were used during the year, at a cost of
about £170.
I need hardly state that during the last 2 years, since the
"bitter cry" was announced, a great work has been proceeding
in the Parish, not only by the legal action of the Vestry, but
also by that of the ground landlords, who seem to have discovered,
or, at least, to have exerted, their powers in causing
the dilapidations and ornamental repairs of tneir houses to be
remedied and vastly improved, which must afford great comfort
and pleasure to the occupants of the houses. It is to be hoped
that they will carefully preserve and protect their houses, which
have been so improved at a very large cost.
