Hence the mean temperature of the whole year, was somewhat
above the average; the winter and summer quarters
being above, the spring and autumn quarters below. This has
an important influence upon the mortality; for a mild winter
diminishes the deaths from pulmonary diseases, while a warm
summer increases the deaths from diarrhoea.
