Dusting.—During the year there have boon 7,290 loads of
dust, and 282½ loads of trade refuse removed. 139 freights of
ashes and breeze, containing 8,661 chaldrons have boon removed
from the Wharf, for which a sum of £715 6s. 1d. has been
received, or an average of £5 2s. l1d. per freight, (against
£7 15s. lid. lust year). 19 freights of hardcore have also been
disposed of, 1 has been removed free, and 18 removed at a cost
of £25 10s. 0d.
Slopping.—During the year 3,636 loads of street sweeping
were removed from the Parish, 186 of which, were collected late
on Saturday nights. 99 freights of slops wore disposed of, 97
being sold for £121 10s. 0d., and 2 being removed free.
Watering.—The watering was done mainly by the Vestry's
stalf, but for 83 days an average of just over 5 horses per day
were hired of Mr. Stubbs for the purpose.
Cartage.—The horses and carts have also been employed
during tho year in carting stone, gully refuse, &c., the cost of
which, reckoning the horse, cart and man at 12/6 per day,
would have amounted to £81 18s. 8d.
Horses, Vans, and Carts.—The horses, vans, and carts
remain as at the close of the previous year, viz., 17 horses, 11
vans, 10 carts, and 12 water vans.
The dust shed has been paved at a cost of £193. This sum
is treated as expenditure out of capital in the following Account,
and a proportion is included in the item for depreciation.
