I am directed to ask you to be good enough to inform the Vestry upon
what authority you made such statement.
I have the honour to be, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
ROBERT PAGET, Vestry Clerk.
G. Russell, Esq., M.P.,
2 Morpeth Terrace, Victoria Street, S.W.
Vestry Hall, Clerkenwell,
15th August, 1884.
Sir,
Referring to my letter of yesterday, and to your statement
therein quoted, as to the composition of the Committees of the Vestry,
I ought perhaps to have added that there is a pretty general conviction
in the minds of the Vestry that you have been very greatly misinformed
and misled in the matter, hence the request that you state upon what
authority you make such statements.
I have the honour to be, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
ROBERT PAGET, Vestry Clerk.
G. Russell, Esq., M.P.,
2 Morpeth Terrace, Victoria Street, S.W.

Local Government Bcard, Whitehall,
August 16 th, 1884.
Sir,
I am directed by Sir Charles Dilke to acknowledge your
letter of the 14th, and to say in reply, that he considers that the
evidence you were good euough to give before the Royal Commission
at its last sitting will, when published, furnish the best commentary
upon the correspondence which has taken place between him and the
Clerkenwell Vestry.
I am, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
J. E. C. BODLEY.
