Dusting.—During the year there have been 7,509
loads of dust, and 401½ loads of trade refuse removed.
138 freights of ashes and breeze, containing 8,779
chaldrons have been removed from the Wharf, for
which a sum of £1,198 4s. 2d. has been received, or
an average of £8 13s. 8d. per freight, (against £6
18s. last year). 24 freights of hardcore have also
been disposed of, thirteen have been removed free, ten
removed at a cost of £11, and £1 was received for
one.
Slopping.—During the year 3,899 loads of street
sweepings were removed from the Parish, 180 of
which were collected late on Saturday nights. 84
freights of slop were disposed of, 59 being sold for
£57 15s., £1 being paid for the removal of two, and
23 being removed free.
Watering.—The Watering was done entirely by
the Vestry's staff, no horses being hired for the
purpose.
Cartage.—The horses and carts have also been
employed during the year in carting stone, gully
refuse, &c., the cost of which, reckoning the horse,
cart, and man at 12/6 per day, would have amounted
to £12G 4s. 6d.
