Chalets.—In the last Report it was stated that permission
had been given to the Chalet Company, to
erect one of their Chalets on Clerkenwcll Green. In
October last, however, a letter was received from the
Company, stating that upon reconsideration they are
satisfied that it is useless to place a Chalet there, the
position not being sufficiently central, but suggesting,
as a suitable site, a spot in Clerkenwcll Boad, behind
the lamp-post at the corner of Goswell Boad. To this
the Vestrv assented, and a Chalet will be erected on
J
the site.
Proposed Mew Street from Gray's Inn Road to
the "Angel."—On the 1 5th June, 1882, the Vestry
resolved to again memorialize the Metropolitan Board
of Works to take steps for the formation of a new
Street from Gray's Inn Boad (at the corner of
Clerkcnwell Boad) to the "Angel."
The Metropolitan Board of "Works therefore prepared
a scheme for a street, beginning near the Holborn
Town Hall in continuation of Theobald's Boad, and
crossing the valley near Mount Pleasant to Exmouth
Street, widening Exmouth Street on its south side
along its whole length, then passing up Garnault
Place, widening Eliza Place between Lloyd's Bow and
Sadler's Well's Theatre, and passing into St. John
Street Boad at St. John's Terrace.
