As anticipated in the last Report, this year's charge compares
very favourably with that for the previous year, showing a
decrease of about £425, and leaving the charges only £220 above
the average of the previous six years; and the Committee feel
sure that this slightly increased cost is more than compensated
for by the greatly increased efficiency with which the work is
performed. The Committee, however, hope that this difference
will be further decreased at the end of the current year by a
decrease in the price of fodder, and by the fact that, whereas the
average selling price of ashes and breeze was last year 2/2,
Mr. Gore has, this year made arrangements to sell several
thousand chaldrons at 2/10 and 3/-
All which your Committee beg to submit.
