It will also be seen that the births were 32 more than the average,
and 5 more than in the preceding year.
The sub-districts in which the deaths and births occurred were
as follows:—

In each year, a certain number of the inhabitants of this parish,
die in General and Special Hospitals, and in Lunatic Asylums,
situated outside the parish. The estimated number of these for the
year 1870,is 101.
The number of births being 2415, and the deaths 1473, the
excess—or the natural increase of the population—amounted to 942.
In the preceding year this was 898.

Gentlemen,
I hereby respectfully lay before you, my 15th Annual Report, for
the year 1870.
The number of deaths which arose from all causes, in 1870, was
1473. The average number of deaths for the last ten years is
1571; hence the deaths were 98 less than the average. And the
number of deaths in 1869 being 1512, the deaths in 1870 were 39
less than those of the preceding year.
