Owing to the difficulties created by the war the routine
inspection by the Sanitary Inspectors of factory chimneys was
largely in abeyance, and, pending a return to more normal conditions,
it was not considered practicable to carry out the strict
procedure of pre-war activity in this direction. Very few
complaints were received during the year.
