The 2,077 cases occurred in 1,708 infected houses. Of the
2,077 cases, 726 (i.e., 35 per cent.) were removed to hospital,
and 1,351 (i.e., 65 per cent.) remained under treatment at
home.
The numerous recently-added notifiable diseases render
a comparison impossible in regard to the percentage of cases
removed to hospital to the total number of cases notified. If
these, however, are excluded, so as to make the 1919 figures
comparable with those for previous years, the percentage of
cases removed to hospital during 1919 would be 78 per cent.
Full particulars of all notifiable infectious diseases will
be found in tabulated form on page 94.
The following table gives the drainage defects, etc., in
houses in which cases of infectious disease were notified during
1919, and where inspections were found necessary:—
