FOOD INSPECTION
Foodstuffs of all descriptions are constantly under
inspection to see that they are fit for human consumption.
During the year a variety of foods which were not fit
were surrendered by the owners and destroyed by burning or
burying.
The total weight of such goods was:-
1 ton: 2 cwts: 3 lbs: 13½ ozs.
There is no slaughterhouse in use in the Borough,
consequently the only meat inspection carried out is in
butchers' shops, canteens, etc.
Thirty-nine samples of various kinds of food were taken
for bacteriological examination as a routine measure to check
on fitness for human consumption.
