Of the 48 new cases tabulated above 29 were transferred from other
districts.
At the commencement of the year there were 301 cases of
tuberculosis on the register and at the end of the year this figure
had decreased to 259, the lowest figure for the last ten years.
During the year 57 were notified as recovered from the disease;
21 left the district; there were 7 deaths and 5 were found to be
non-tubercular.
Last year I reported that the figure of 301 cases remaining on
the register at the end of 1959 was the lowest for the previous ten
years. It will be seen that the figure of 259 at the end of 1960
is even a much larger reduction, and that during the period under
review 57 cases were removed from the register by reason of being
'recovered'.
