PREVALENCE OF AND CONTROL OVER
INFECTIOUS DISEASE
The Kingston Group Hospital Management Committee (South West
Metropolitan Region) has supplied me with the following figures
for 1955:-

The 90 "other diseases" admitted to the hospital from

From this table it will be noticed that Surbiton have
practically half of the number of cases admitted. The reason may
possibly be due to the fact that the hospital is situated in the
area and other districts may find it more convenient to use nearer
isolation hospitals. The number of poliomyelitis cases admitted is
fifteen but seven of the cases were sent in on suspicion and not
confirmed. There were, however, eight confirmed cases in 1955.
Only two were of the paralytic type and fortunately no deaths
occurred.
