INFANT MORTALITY
There were 27 deaths of children under 1 year of age.
23 were legitimate and 4 were Illegitimate.
Of the infant deaths, 11 occurred in hospitals or public
instititutions outside the district of Surbiton. The ages at
death were as follows:-
One at a few minutes; one at 5 minutes; two at 3 hours; one at
4 hours; one at 6 hours; 2 at 8 hours; one at 10 hours; one at
12 hours; one at 16 hours; one at 30 hours; one at 2 days;
one at 3 days; one at 4 days; one at 1 week; one at 2 weeks;
one at 3 weeks; one at 6 weeks; four at 1 month; one at 2 months;
one at 3 months; two at 4 months.
The causes and ages at death of the children were as follows:-
Atelectasis and prematurity 12 hours.
Atelectasis neonatorum few minutes.
Broncho pneumonia 1 month.
Broncho pneumonia and prematurity 1 month.
Broncho pneumonia, marasmus 2 months.
Pneumonia, septicaemia following enteritis
pylonephritis 1 week.
Acute bronchitis, pertussis 4 months.
Prematurity, debility 5 minutes.
Prematurity 4 hours.
Prematurity 8 hours.
Prematurity 8 hours.
Prematurity 10 hours.
Prematurity 16 hours.
Prematurity 2 days.
Prematurity 30 hours.
Prematurity, toxaemia 4 days.
Prematurity, gastro enteritis 3 weeks.
Intracranial haemorrhage, lacerated Falx Cerebelli
patent interauricular septum 6 hours.
Haemorrhagic disease of new born 3 hours.
Haemorrhagic disease of new born and prematurity 3 days.
Exhaustion, enteritis 6 weeks.
Gastro enteritis, marasmus 3 months.
Acute gastro enteritis 4 months.
Hydrocephalus 2 weeks.
Mrningocode operation 1 month.
Asphyxia, pressure of face in pillow 1 month.
Congenital malformation of heart 3 hours.
