There are now 43 persons registered in accordance with the milk and
Dairies (Amendment) Act, 1922, as follows:-
Wholesale Traders or Producers of Milk 7
Retail purveyors of milk residing in the district 28
Retail surveyors residing outside the district hut
retailing in the district 7

In consequence of the Rationalisation Scheme only 13 reteilers are
now selling milk in the Borough, hut the others have expressed a wish not
to he removed from the register.
Thirteen Dealers' Licences to sell "Pasteurised" milk, 9 to sell
"Tuberculin Tested" milk, 1 Supplementary Licence to sell "Tuberculin
Tested" milk and 1 to sell "Pasteurised" milk were granted under the Milk
(Special Designations) Order, 1936.
Forty samples of milk were taken for phosphatase, test to ascertain
if pasteurisation hod been properly carried out. All were found to be
satisfactory. Four samples were, takenfor bacteriological examination,
including animal inoculation test for tuberculosis in two cases. All
were satisfoctory.

During the year disinfection was carried out at 88 civilian premises
in which the following diseases occurred:-
Scabies 3
Tuberculosis 13
Gerebro-spina1 meningitis 1
Scarlet fever 66
Diphtheria 1
Typhoid 1
Gastro-enteritis 1
Miscellaneous 2
In addition disinfection was carried out at military and civil
defence premises following these diseases:-
Scabies 18
Cerebro-spinal meningitis 1
Tuberculosis 2
Scarlet fever 2
Gastro-enteritis 1
Miscellaneous 8
Total 32
Disinfection was also carried out at 32 premises after cases of
non-notifiable diseases, the occupiers in each case.paying the expense.
