During the year I made official representation
under Part I of tlie Housing Act, 1930, in respect
of 10 Clearance Areas comprising 74 houses.
An Inquiry was held in October into the above
by H. McGregor-Wood, Esq., A.R.I.B.A. The
result of the Inquiry was not made known within
the year.
With regard to unsound meat in the district,
there has been a considerable drop in the amount
surrendered and destroyed. The decrease amounts
to something like 600 lbs.
The condition of the Cowsheds and Dairies is
satisfactory. The results of the analysis of milk
will be seen in a later section and the necessity for
taking an increased number of samples of milk
should be pointed out.
The most notable acquisition to the district in
the way of entertainment was the provision of an
open air Swimming pool situated in Raebum
Avenue, Tolworth—a most central position. It was
commenced in June, 1933, and finished in April,
1934, being opened in the following May. The
dimensions are 165 feet long by 90 feet wide, and
the depth is graded from 3 to 9 feet. The original
accommodation was 125 changing cubicles and 500
lockers, but this was increased soon after the opening
day by the provision of communal rooms, and a
further 196 lockers were installed.
Owing to the fortunate climatic conditions, the
bath was well patronised during the season, having
an approximate attendance of 173,000.
Samples were taken on three occasions during
both rush and quiescent periods and these were
satisfactory.
