early morning with a view to preventing the use
of bad churns such as were detected during the
Summer, and I am pleased to report that the whole
of the old churns have been taken out of use.
Appreciation should be expressed to the Officials
of the Surrey County Council as I am convinced
that much of our progress on farms and in
connection with the public milk supply is due to
their activity.
Slaughter of Animals Act, 1933:—A copy of this
Act was supplied to each slaughterman and butcher
who employs slaughtermen in the district, and there
are now ten persons holding licences to act as
slaughtermen, the licences were made operative for
three years.
The Council resolved that section I of the Act
should apply to sheep, ewes, wethers, rams, and
lambs.
Council Housing Estates:—Owing to the continued
dry weather serious settlement took place
beneath three houses and special underpinning work
was placed in the hands of your Architect, and has
proved effective.
The whole of the Council's houses were painted
externally by direct labour in addition to the usual
interior decorative work.
During the year the Council acquired flats
numbered 1-22, Howard Road and houses 17-20,
Alpha Road in which properties overcrowding had
existed for some considerable time. Several families
have been moved into larger Council Houses,
and in others, arrangements have heen made to
prevent overcrowding.
