to insist upon each house being provided with a
portable galvanised iron dust bin where no suitable
ashpit exists, or where they are unsuitably placed
or beyond repair.
Most of the houses in the district are now
provided with covered ashbins, most of which are
movable.
A weekly collection is made of house refuse by
means of nine trailers and three tractors. The
trailers are horse-drawn from house to house and
then, when full, taken to the destructor by tractor.
The method of disposal is by incineration. The
steam produced therefrom is used for pumping and
other power in connection with the Sewage Disposal
Works.
CLOSET ACCOMMODATION.
The whole of the closets in the original Urban
District of Surbiton were by March 1933 011 the
water carriage system. By 1933 in the added Parish
of Chessington there was very little house drainage
existing and most of the properties had been
put 011 the water carriage system by the end of 1934.

Sanitary Inspector, which is attached hereto.
