During the year 388 deaths were registered,
being an increase of 33 on the previous year. 245
deaths occurred in the district, 132 deaths in Public
Institutions outside the district, and 11 deaths in
other premises outside the district.
The crude death rate of 9.69 for this District is
strictly speaking not comparable with the figure for
England and Wales. In order to provide for this
the Registrar General introduced a comparability
factor which for Surbiton is 0.98, giving an adjusted
death rate of 9.49.
From the foregoing table it will be seen that the principal causes of death, apart from zymotic diseases, are as follows:—
Cancer | 63 | |
Heart Disease | 90 | 133 |
Cerebral Haemorrhage | 19
Aneurysm | 2 | |
Other Circulatory Diseases | 22
Pneumonia | 17 | 27 |
Bronchitis | 7 | |
Other Respiratory Diseases | 3
Influenza | 9 | |
Tuberculosis (Respiratory) | 17 |
Cancer.
Cancer (Malignant Disease) was responsible for
63 deaths or 16.2% of the total number recorded.
The following table gives the percentage figure
since 1925:—
