SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA.
Water Supply.
The water supply throughout the District is
furnished by the Metropolitan Water Board and is
a constant supply of excellent quality. No samples
have been taken for analysis by the Surbiton
Council during the year.
Drainage and Sewerage.
There have been no important extensions to
sewerage during the year. With regard to sewage
disposal, important extensions to the works at
Surbiton and Ruxley are proposed and at the time
of writing, applications for loan have been made
to the Ministry of Health.
The sewage works at Ruxley is situated in the
Epsom Urban District; but it also serves the parish
of Chessington.
Public Cleansing.
The collection of house refuse is carried out
on the tractor-trailer system and refuse disposal is
