FACTORIES.
There are 235 factories (including 19 bakehouses)
on the register.
86 visits were made, and the following contraventions
dealt with:—
Sanitary Conveniences.
Insufficient 3
Unsuitable or defective 3
Other Defects.
Inadequate ventilation 1
Means of escape in case of fire 10
Drainage work 1
The only underground bakehouse in the
Borough was closed under the provisions of Section
54, Factories Act, 1937.
SLAUGHTERHOUSES.
Three registered slaughterhouses are in use.
DAIRIES, COWSHEDS AND MILKSHOPS.
There are 66 persons registered in accordance
with the Milk and Dairies Act, 1922. 27 licences
were issued under the Milk (Special Designations)
Order, 1936.
FOOD INSPECTION.
Carcases and offal of 4348 animals were
inspected, of which number 258 were affected with
disease in some part.
The total quantity of food condemned as unfit
for human consumption was 3454 lbs. 12 ozs,
