One bakehouse is underground, and was still in
use at the end of the year.
Twenty-eight visits were made to factories and
five to Outworkers' premises, as a result of which
six contraventions were dealt with.
The number of inspections is abnormally low
due to the fact that it was intended to proceed with
this work during the autumn after the new
Factories Act had come into operation, but the
Department was so seriously disorganised by the
National Crisis in September that these duties
could not be proceeded with till 1939.
