MARRIAGES.
The number of marriages solemnized were 89
more than during the previous year, being an increase
in the rate from 4.7 in 1897 to 5.3 in 1898.
The birth-rate has also slightly increased which
seems to indicate, as far as the parish of Willesden is
concerned, that the report of the Registrar-General,
of the slow but gradual decline of the marriage and
birth-rates in the Kingdom generally, is not occurring
here, and also indicates that the general prosperity of
the District has been rather more than maintained.
