INFECTIOUS DISEASES AND DISINFECTIONS.
These duties are carried out under the directions of the
Medical Officer of Health. Fortunately almost every medical
practitioner in the district is on the telephone, as are also the
Medical Officer of Health, the Joint Hospital, and the Council
Offices, so that there is little loss of time in getting cases removed
or other matters in connection therewith attended to.
Over 85 per cent. of the Scarlet Fever and Diphtheria
cases notified were removed to the Joint Hospital for treatment.
The 44 Diphtheria cases occurred in 33 separate houses,
in 25 different streets.
The 90 Scarlet Fever cases occurred in 76 separate houses,
in 53 different streets.
Rooms are disinfected with Formalin gas after being
sprayed with Cyllin, and the bedding disinfected in the
Council's superheated steam disinfector, when advised by the
Medical Officer of Health or medical attendant.
